SEO – Backlinks and How to Make Them Work For You

Backlinks

These are the legendary gold dust that everyone wants for their website. All things being equal, the more the better in Google’s eyes.

But a word of warning, be careful that you obtain backlinks from websites that have relevant content to yours, other than your name or domain name.

For example, if your website is about gardening, and you get a link from a site that’s about AdSense, that link will carry little weight.

A better way to make backlinks work for you is to join the various forums that cover the subject of your niche and place a link in your signature. This will give you a link from every post you make, increasing the popularity of your website, and will, when combined with other methods of Search Engine Optimization, dramatically improve your position in Google.

Anchor Text

When you’re at your computer and looking at all the websites on the page, trying to decide which is your competitor and why try using Google’s ignore attribute to see the text that’s being used in the anchor tags. You can highlight all text and see the keyword being used in each URL.

Page Rank

Google assigns each page an initial PR value, making it impossible to get a backlink from a page with a PR value of 0.

The Page Rank Assslination Index (ARIB) program shows the page rank of the page you’re viewing through a small increment, using the base Open Directory Project PageRank (PR) value.

Also, if you use the ignore attribute, you can see what pages are being indexed, by using the advanced search feature of Google.

Links from the same domains always count, (i.e. two sites that show the same IP address when you click on them both will always count.)

If you use the advanced search feature, you can press the ” attentions” button and will see the PR of every page that focuses on the keywords you’ve entered. This way, you can instantly understand how to get backlinks from those sites and succeed faster in your SEO endeavors.

You can peek at their backlinks and write your own to compete, copy their strategy, and improve your backlink-building effort.

But wait, that’s only the beginning.

You need to get an early leg up on your competition and rank higher.

And here’s where to do it:

1. Spend some time searching for threads in your market, and your related niche’s forums that focus on the same subject as yours. When you find something with relevant content, read the thread and make a few comments worthy of spending time to give in.

2. Marketing everything you do on your blog and website takes time. Therefore, most of the time you want to avoid pulling the wool over your eyes and treat yourself and your business like a TV commercial ad, which means you want to watch your marketing efforts on a TV.

11. If you’re using WordPress, use the All-in-One SEO plugin. It has several functions including suggestions on how to use header tags, what texts to use in those tags, how to combine keywords and anchor text, etc. It’s a great plugin that makes your efforts of marketing your blog easier.
